Five Unipart colleagues took part in the High Sheriff Challenge in Oxford to raise funds for local charities. The ‘Olympic style’ sporting event was created by Oxfordshire High Sheriff Tony Stratton to raise money for Music for Autism, Access Sport and the Oxfordshire Community Foundation, which supports community groups working with disadvantaged people.
The Unipart ‘athletes’, comprising Philip Alexandrou, Molly Bagworth, Bernadett Gergely, Steve Griffin and Antony Tuffs (supported by Hayley Dry who had an endless supply of bananas and jelly beans!) took part in the sporting challenge held at the Roger Bannister stadium.
After competing in a 10 different disciplines including running, rowing, Boccia, archery, swimming, shot put, jumping and even wellie wanging the team finished an impressive 3rd out of 22 teams – with only 2 points separating them from 1st place.
World Cup-winning England rugby player and TV celebrity Matt Dawson and Olympic gold medal rower Greg Searle helped host the sporting event which culminated in an awards ceremony at Oxford Brookes University.
