The Challenge

A leading higher education institution wanted to significantly improve the performance of their course delivery process.

The institution, delivering more than 400 degree education courses annually, was challenged by inefficient processes, a lack of useful data, deadlines being missed, high employee turnover, and low employee satisfaction.

Unipart Consultancy was tasked with transforming the performance of the programme, and equipping the institution’s workforce with the tools and skills needed to drive continuous improvement.

The Solution

Unipart Consultancy’s operational excellence experts developed a bespoke programme with the following interventions taken:

  • Unipart’s 5 Core Tools were implemented and played a pivotal role in defining the root cause of the problems and designing suitable solutions
  • Key steps were reviewed and standardised, allowing Unipart to streamline processes, eliminate redundancies, and enhance efficiency
  • An escalation route for risk management and issue resolution was established, providing clear guidelines and protocols
  • Key milestones were agreed on that fostered transparency, accountability, and collaboration
  • A Course Delivery Review Group (CDRG) was established, facilitating Six Sigma methodology
  • The principle of Visual Management was embraced, and a comprehensive dashboard serving as a centralised hub for planning workload, tracking performance metrics, and celebrating achievements was implemented
  • KPIs were established to gauge effectiveness of course delivery, and identify opportunities for improvement.
